Squads @ Kenmore State School

During Term 4 we run classes in the mornings on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Regular school term sessions finish on the last day of term - Friday 10th December 2021 (10 week term for Tues - Thurs, 9 week term for Monday classes).
We grade our students into three rough groups, with ability and age taken into account when grading. Inside each group we then grade further, so that your child is swimming with students of comparable ability. These squads run during Term 1 and Term 4 of the school year and in the summer school holidays as week long intensive programs.
First step after graduating from learn to swim is mini-squad. These sessions are generally 45 minutes long and focus on building technique and strength. We introduce these swimmers to diving and turning, with the emphasis, again, on technique. We recommend that mini squad swimmers come twice a week. Please ask Trish or Annabelle for details.
Our advanced squad is aimed squarely at building streamlined swimmers. Building on the foundations laid down in mini squad we focus on 'keeping shape' in the water while increasing our speed and strength. These sessions usually last an hour to an hour and quarter. We recommend that our advanced squad swimmers come three times a week for maximum effectiveness. Advanced squad is run in the pool at Kenmore State School.
High school fitness squad
We don't run the high school squad during winter. This squad is all about fitness and endurance! Most of our swimmers in this squad have graduated from the advanced squad and are in high school. We like to challenge these swimmers, while keeping it fun at the same time. We have two specific sessions for high school students and invite them to combine with the adult squad on the 'off' days. High school fitness squad is run in the pool at Kenmore State School.
